Adoration means both "deep love" and "veneration" in English and signifies the highest form of worship in many religions. When I first started to create these compositions, they reminded me of reliquaries, those ornate glass-encased holy objects that are usually hundreds of years old. I call these "adorations" to draw upon that aspect of worship, but my veneration of the forests as ancient, living beings. Forests live and breath and form communities centuries old and seeing these magnificent beings brings my own presence here on earth into perspective. I'll be here but a fraction of the time these giants will. I cannot survive in the elements, I must kill other things to survive, and my view of time is linear. These beings survive for thousands of years in the elements, create food from the sun and earth, and experience time on a different plane. How do we definitively call ourselves the smartest creature on earth?
