HEXAGON DERIVATIVES

HEXAGON DERIVATIVES

The hexagon is sometimes called nature's perfect shape due to several geometric and structural advantages it has over other shapes, but oddly enough we don't really see it often in our cities. In the Hexagon Derivative series I take photos of urban environments and architecture - old and new - and create hexagons cuts from these transparencies,  and then redesign the pieces of our world into the hexagon's six-sided terms. These compositions imagine a world free from our current lateral existence and present a different perception of order by using only the shape of the hexagon to reorder the existing geometry of the city.
